Happy National Scrapbook Weekend

Happy National Scrapbook Weekend!
The Bazzill Basics Design team is excited to celebrate with you! Today we want to share some inspiration to help kick off your weekend creativity!
Im sharing a special layout celebrating an awesome trip to Disneyland back in January with my good friend and fellow Bazzill Design team member Gail Lindner. I love celebrating in my scrapbooks my quirky  stories and funny moments that make vacations all that more special. If we didn't get those memories down in our scrapbooks they would all be soon forgotten.

To add my journaling I trimmed a piece of White Bazzill cardstock to fit into my vintage typewriter , typed out my journaling then pieced the cardstock back together and added some Heidi Swapp pattern paper to embellish. I also stitched around my journaling with my  machine to add some subtle texture.

I snuck in some foil pieces from the Heidi Swapp Minc collection for a bright bold look too!

Click on over to the next Bazzill Basics team member, Gail Lindner to be inspired!

Lego Marquee Lights

You all probably know my boys are obsessed with Lego! When the Heidi Swapp Marquee love Lights came out I knew straight away I wanted to make the word Lego for their toy room! Today I wanted to share a quick tutorial how I went about making my fun Lego Marquee Lights!

@kimjeffress @heidiswapp #heidiswapp #hsmarqueelights #lego

I started with the lego Marquee letters, four cans of spray paint in the primary colours and  I also downloaded these Chima Lego comics here and printed them off!

@kimjeffress @heidiswapp #heidiswapp #hsmarqueelights #lego

 Once I printed  off the comics I used the letter template found in each letter box to trace around each letter from the comic.

@kimjeffress @heidiswapp #heidiswapp #hsmarqueelights #lego

I then sprayed painted each letter  and once dry placed the cut comic letters into the Marquee letters. I used a pencil to  push holes into the comic to place the bulbs into then added the bulbs and lights!

 My boys are totally in love with them. They like to have them lit up during the day when they are playing with their lego! The best kind of toy room accessory!

What word would you like to spell out! I would love to know!

Best Ever!

Did you know that the Heidi Swapp Minc collection comes with a gorgeous range of pattern papers? The best part about it is that they papers and embellishments can be customised to suit your photos! How cool is that!

I started with a base of Black Raven Bazzil cardstock and added a strip of Bazzill Pollen cardstock. I then  teamed two papers from the Minc 5th Avenue collection – the diagonal stripe and the cheetah and  my two favorite reactive foil colors the gold and Light pink for a glamorous feel.  After running the pattern papers through the Minc machine I stitched all the pieces to the black cardstock. I needed a bold title to stand out from the shine of the foiled papers so chose one from my stash that Chipboard Best Ever sticker title which I overlaid on my photo and the Gold foiled @ symbol from the Jumbo Alphabet set.

 I then grabbed the Jumbo Alphabet M  and ran it through my Minc with some more Gold foil. It was fun to over lap the small photo and chipboard word to add some depth and texture to my layout.

I completed my layout by adding some September Skies word jumble stickers and a couple of chipboard embellishments from the Minc collection but kept them unfoiled  to add a bit of contrast.

I hope you get a chance to play with the Minc , it is so much fun!

Another stunning new mood board over at Jot Magazine! Such a lovely colour palette.
 The Wanderlust collection from Heidi Swapp was a perfect way to be inspired by the mood board.

Color Chaos!

Sharing my final projects as my guest designer spot over at Bella Blvd!
I have always been a fan of the bold patterns and colours from Bella Blvd! This photo of my family late last year about to dive into the water at the Great Barrier Reef was a perfect match for the bold papers from the Color Chaos collection !

My next layout uses more of the Color Chaos papers and embellishments, I couldn't go past that delish yellow paper with the script on it, it was perfect for my photo !

Marquee Love!

Have you spied the Heidi Swapp Marquee love letters yet? Today I want to share a fun way to decorate them. I combined my Minc machine, foil and some of the washi tape that comes in the collection to create my letter.

Here's how I created my letter.
1. I created my own pattern paper in powerpoint and printed it off using my laser printer.  I used the template that comes in each pack to trace and cut around the letter.
2. Next I chose some of the gold foil and ran it through my Minc machine.
3. I used some of the 2 inch glitter tape to cover the inside of my letter.
4. To cover the outside I used some of the gold spotty tape. You can see I used a skewer to push the tape into some of the tighter areas.

 A close up of the Foiled paper.

It looks so pretty lit up at night.
